It will be spread over 4300 acres of land and will be 26 km away from the Gwadar City in Gurandani. The groundbreaking ceremony of this project was performed on 29th March, 2019 by Prime Minister Imran Khan.nnnnThe construction of New International Gwadar Airport started on 31st October, 2019. Its US $230 million construction cost will be bared solely by the Chinese Government in the form of a grant.  New Gwadar International Airport will have the capacity to cater to 30,000 tons per year and will accommodate narrow and wide body aircrafts i.e. ATR-72, Boeing B 737, A-380 (the world’s latest passenger airline) and Boeing B 747 for international and domestic routes. Only the Islamabad International Airport has been able to cater to the A380 so far in Pakistan.nnThis airport will be comprised of a single runway that will be 75 meters in width and 3658 meters in length. After the construction of the first runway, there will be a capacity for the construction of a second runway north of the first one.nnFor a safe operation it will be equipped with all the modern facilities i.e. an Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, fire with rescue facilities, crash facilities and a fuel farm will be built. This project will be completed under the supervision of the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan that is expected to be completed in 2022. Upon completion it will be the biggest airport in Pakistan covering an area of 18 square kilometer (sq.km) as compared to other airports of Pakistan like the Karachi Airport that is spread over 3,700 acres, Lahore Airport on 2800 acres and the New Islamabad International Airport on 3600 acres.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
